Haicheng
lying in the south of Liaoning Province, on the north corner
of Liaodong peninsula, is the cradle of Liaonan stilt walking.
Haicheng stilt walking has had 300-year history since the
development started in the Year of Kangxi -12, Qing Dynasty.
Founded in 1988, with the help and cooperation of Liaoning
Association of Dancing, Liaoning Institute of Dancing, Haicheng
Municipal bureau of Culture and Haicheng Public Palace, New
Star Stilt-Walking Art Troupe obtains the essences of the
ancient arts and combines the modern dance with acrobatics
to form its own stilt walking with the futures of quick rhythm,
fancy dressing, boldness and unconstrainedness.
In August 9, 1989, due to its unique performance style, this
team represented China to attend the 11th Krems International
Folk Arts Festival and the 5th Krakow International Folk Arts
Festival held by Austria, the 2nd Sava International Folk
Arts Festival in Hungary.
